Nesco Resource is looking for a 2nd Shift Production Toolmaker located in Waterbury, CT. This is a direct placement opportunity for the right candidate.

Shift: Weekdays 5PM-5AM (Mon-Fri 5am-5pm, Thursdays 5PM-9PM)

Pay: $34/hour or depending on experience (with a 10% differential)

Position Summary:We are seeking a skilled and experienced Production Toolmaker to support 2nd shift operations. In this role, you will set up, maintain, and troubleshoot a wide range of deep draw transfer press tooling. You'll ensure tooling is properly adjusted and functioning to produce high-quality parts that meet company standards. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, precision craftsmanship, and the ability to work both independently and within a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Construct, maintain, and repair complex tooling, transfer fingers, and gauges based on blueprints, specifications, sketches, or verbal instructions.
  • Use advanced shop math and trigonometry to calculate tolerances and build tools to exact specifications.
  • Hand-finish tools through filing, grinding, fitting, and contouring as needed.
  • Conduct sample production runs, verify quality of initial parts, and obtain QA approval.
  • Heat-treat tools as specified and fabricate spare parts or assist with machinery repairs when necessary.
  • Perform tooling changeovers, removing previous tools and installing new setups. Check alignment and functionality at each station to ensure compliance.
  • Troubleshoot production issues by inspecting machinery and tooling, identifying root causes, and making necessary adjustments or repairs.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and electrical teams when technical support is needed.
  • Use computers for basic data entry, including SPC (Statistical Process Control) inputs.
  • Work efficiently in a collaborative, team-based manufacturing environment or independent tooling cell.
  • Provide guidance to machine operators during changeovers and ensure understanding of proper machine operation.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with company safety policies.
  • Perform related tasks as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications
  • Extensive experience with deep draw transfer press tools and complex toolmaking.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Skilled in the use of precision measuring tools and machining equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet quality standards.
