Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Location: Rochester, NY
Employment Type: Full-Time (Direct Hire)
Summary: We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support and maintain production equipment in a manufacturing facility. This hands-on role is ideal for someone with a solid understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, as well as experience troubleshooting PLCs, VFDs, and industrial automation equipment. Candidates must be comfortable working second shift and participating in occasional weekend projects.
Shift Schedule:
- Monday – Friday between 5:00 PM – 2:00 AM
- (Some weekend work required for preventative maintenance and production support)
Pay Rate:
- $25.00 – $40.00/hour, depending on experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, repair, and maintain mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Perform preventive and planned maintenance on equipment, including calibration and testing
- Respond to equipment failures and diagnose issues with PLCs, VFDs, and control systems
- Communicate professionally with the Maintenance Supervisor, production teams, and engineering staff
- Document maintenance activities and collaborate with team members to ensure efficient operations
- Research and order parts; receive and manage inventory as needed
- Train and mentor other maintenance team members on equipment usage and shop tools
- Follow all safety protocols, including Lock-Out Tag-Out and PPE usage
- Support improvement projects and attend technical training as necessary
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial maintenance preferred
- Strong electrical knowledge (3-phase, 24VDC, 120VAC, 208/220VAC, 480VAC)
- Familiarity with PLC programming, temperature controls, and HMI interfaces
- Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical blueprints
- Competency with tools such as drill press, saws, multimeters, and measuring equipment
- Basic computer skills and ability to update maintenance logs
- Must be able to lift, bend, and work on feet for extended periods
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
