Overview
Client is seeking an Industrial Systems Engineer to own and stabilize the data, server, and communication infrastructure that supports automated manufacturing lines. This is a hybrid OT role focused on uptime, troubleshooting live production issues, and building repeatable, scalable plant architectures. You will work at the intersection of manufacturing equipment, industrial networking, SQL databases, and SCADA/historian platforms.

Core Responsibilities

  • Maintain and troubleshoot manufacturing databases used by production equipment

  • Support and administer SCADA/historian platforms (Ignition or equivalent)

  • Troubleshoot Windows/Linux server infrastructure supporting automation systems

  • Diagnose and resolve production outages related to data systems and communications

  • Monitor system performance, memory, storage, and service health

  • Manage backups, redundancy, and disaster recovery; document recovery procedures

  • Support industrial Ethernet communications between machines

  • Standardize and replicate automation infrastructure across production lines

  • Collaborate with controls engineers and IT/network teams to improve reliability

  • Identify systemic risks and implement preventative improvements

  • Participate in on-call support for critical production systems

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Technologies

  • 5 years in manufacturing, automation, or industrial systems (production environment)

  • 2 years supporting SQL databases in a production setting (SQL Server)

  • 1 year Windows Server and/or Linux administration experience

  • 3 years industrial networking fundamentals (Ethernet/IP, OPC-UA, or similar)

  • 3 years troubleshooting live production outages

  • SCADA/historian platform experience (Ignition or equivalent)

Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Skills or Experience

  • SQL Server DBA experience

  • VMware/virtualization experience

  • Scripting (PowerShell or Python)

  • MES and/or historian systems experience

  • Industrial cybersecurity familiarity

  • Electronics manufacturing environment experience

  • Ignition certification

  • Cisco CCNA (or equivalent) and/or Server /Linux certifications

  • Experience deploying repeatable automation architectures across lines/site
