Purpose Statement
The Facilities Maintenance Mechanic ensures the efficient operation of all lab equipment by performing mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic repair and preventive maintenance.
Key Accountabilities and Outcomes
- Troubleshoot and diagnose maintenance failures.
- Perform annual preventive maintenance on all lab equipment.
- Use assembly drawings, P&IDs, and manuals to tune equipment for operation, employing electrical and logic principles to solve equipment issues.
- Work with operating devices such as gauges, RTDs, pressure transmitters, and flow meters.
- Maintain work area in a safe and orderly fashion according to GMP and lab safety guidelines.
- Collaborate with vendors for complex troubleshooting and repairs.
- Maintain an inventory of spare parts.
- Work with and train associates on basic equipment troubleshooting and assist with equipment operation as needed during lab trials.
- Train new associates and team members on required maintenance skill sets.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager.
Skills/Experience
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Desire and ability to operate as a member of a self-directed work team.
- General mechanical knowledge and understanding of electrical and logic principles.
- Basic plumbing and general facilities/building maintenance knowledge.
- Awareness of and ability to follow Associate Safety guidelines.
- Awareness of and ability to follow GMP and Food Safety guidelines.
- Understanding of proper machine operating and adjusting procedures.
- Ideally, 3-5 years of experience in food processing or a related field, working with standard troubleshooting and repair of equipment.
Required Skills
This is an urgent need. We are looking for a person to start as soon as possible. This is a temporary position with an estimated contract length of around 6 months. The person will work onsite. The work hours are Monday to Thursday, 8 AM to 5 PM, and Friday, 8 AM to 1 PM.
