Plant Maintenance Manager
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Perform maintenance and sanitation duties on the production line as required by Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and supervisor direction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES / FUNCTIONS:

Disassemble production filling equipment (remove fill valves, cylinders, hopper, supply hoses).

Reassemble and set up production filling equipment (replace fill valves, cylinders, hopper, supply hoses) using hand tools.

Set up production lines for specific products (adjust fill volume, set cap height, set date code, and rail width).
-
Learn and develop basic troubleshooting techniques to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system problems.
-
Troubleshoot and repair plant equipment (fillers, pumps, tanks, valves, cappers, conveyors, etc.) using hands, hand tools, problem-solving skills, computers, HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, bathroom fixtures, air compressors, etc.

Safely use appropriate equipment for each repair (welder, hand tools, electrical meter, grinders, etc.).

Maintain plant equipment in technically sound condition per SOPs, Machine Service Manuals, and Repair Manuals.

Log all work and wrench-time on daily work orders and/or in the CMMS.
-
Clean equipment as directed using chemicals, spray hoses, etc., after completing maintenance tasks.
-
Perform carpentry tasks including framing walls, installing sheetrock, and repairing wall damage.
-
Paint company-owned equipment and facility as needed.
-
Use company-approved personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
-
Operate a scissor lift to change lamps in high-bay fixtures and assist with installing overhead electrical conduits.
-
Perform work in permitted and non-permitted confined spaces, including inside mixing vessels and storage tanks.
-
Order equipment parts using a parts requisition form and submit to the Maintenance Supervisor or designated Parts Coordinator.

Work long hours and respond to call-ins as needed.
-
Always work safely and comply with safety, health, environmental, food and drug regulations, GMPs, and company policies.

Communicate corrective and preventive issues to managers and coworkers.
-
Cooperate with production personnel to ensure maximum quality and production.
-
Work cooperatively with coworkers and supervisors.
-
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
-
Perform all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED:
-
Mechanical aptitude.
-
Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout procedures.
-
Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical systems, and electrical systems.
-
Knowledge of MIG and TIG welding.
-
Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC maintenance and repair.
-
Carpentry skills.
-
English reading proficiency to understand schematics, manuals, building plans, codes, and safety regulations.
-
Knowledge of building codes (electrical, plumbing, HVAC).
-
Ability to operate a forklift and scissor lift.
-
Ability to read and follow written instructions, reports, and manufacturer documentation.
-
Ability to follow verbal instructions.
-
Ability to perform basic math to measure fill speed, fill rate, etc.
-
Ability to communicate clearly.
-
Willingness and ability to work long hours and off-shifts.
-
Ability to properly use hand tools.
-
Ability to properly use measuring devices (tape measure, depth gauge, calipers, micrometers, etc.).
-
Willingness to perform tasks as required.
-
Ability to work with supervision.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
-
Lift up to 50 pounds from floor to shoulder height and vice versa.
-
Stand for up to three hours at a time.
-
Visual acuity to perform setup, recognize issues, troubleshoot, and make repairs.
-
Ability to sit, bend, squat, reach, pull, twist, and turn.
-
Ability to reach forward and overhead.
-
Manual dexterity to use hand tools (wrenches, pliers, sockets, screwdrivers, etc.).
-
Ability to use power equipment such as welders, electrical meters, grinders, and hand tools.
-
Ability to use cleaning chemicals.
-
Good hand-eye coordination.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
-
High school diploma or equivalent required.
-
Trade or technical school training preferred.
-
1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
-
1–2 years of mechanical experience.
-
Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment preferred.
-
Preventative maintenance experience preferred.
-
MIG and TIG welding experience.
-
Familiarity with high-speed packaging and filling equipment
