Job Title: Component Repair Technician


Position Summary

The Component Repair Technician is responsible for performing repair, rework, and testing of aerospace components within an FAA-certificated repair station. This role ensures all repairs meet quality standards, regulatory requirements, and contractual turnaround times while adhering to established operating procedures, policies, and departmental goals.


Key Responsibilities

  • Disassemble, repair, and reassemble aerospace components in accordance with approved procedures

  • Perform incoming inspections and basic functional testing on returned components

  • Document all repair and test data accurately on repair travelers and associated forms

  • Complete repair requests and material movement documentation for parts and assemblies

  • Monitor spare parts inventory and initiate replacement orders as needed

  • Perform surface-mount and through-hole assembly and repair

  • Calibrate workstations, tools, and soldering equipment as required

  • Utilize approved test equipment for in-house troubleshooting and validation

  • Maintain compliance with all required FAA and internal training programs

  • Identify and isolate electronic failures down to the component level

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support repair station operations


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Ability to represent the organization in a professional manner with internal and external customers

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment

  • Strong ability to learn and understand the technical operation of aerospace electronic products

  • Ability to read and interpret customer requirements, technical documentation, and drawings

  • Proficiency with hand tools and electronic repair equipment

  • Ability to troubleshoot electronic assemblies to the component level

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Computer literacy required


Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Electronics Technology or a related field

  • 3–4 years of experience in an aerospace or equivalent regulated manufacturing environment

  • FAA Repairman Certificate (or ability to obtain and maintain)

  • J-STD-001 Soldering Certification (or ability to obtain and maintain)


International Trade Compliance

Due to potential exposure to export-controlled data, candidates must be a qualified U.S. person under applicable export control regulations or be eligible to obtain required government authorizations.


Work Environment

  • Combination of office and repair station environment

  • Exposure to varying weather conditions when applicable

  • Moderate to occasionally high noise levels


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, and use hands for fine motor tasks

  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb stairs as needed

  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
