Mechanical Designer – 3D CAD (Inventor)
Reports to: Design Engineering Manager
Position Overview
A growing manufacturing organization is seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to create detailed 3D models and piece-part drawings using Autodesk Inventor. This role is hands-on, accuracy-focused, and central to supporting engineered-to-order industrial products.
Key Responsibilities

Develop complete, fully constrained 3D solid models using assigned part numbers, reusing existing components when possible and creating new parts when needed.

Ensure exceptional accuracy and attention to detail in modeling, assemblies, and drawing packages, including proper mating, constraints, and consistency.

Provide realistic timelines for assigned work and deliverables.

Produce complete, fully detailed model files so projects can be easily handed off when required.

Generate customer approval drawings in a standard format.

Create all required piece-part drawings once the design is approved.

Prepare accurate Bills of Material within both the drawing package and internal ERP system.

Complete release documentation so projects can be issued to manufacturing.

Make revisions and correct errors as needed.

Support additional design tasks and general engineering needs as assigned.
Qualifications

Associate degree in Drafting, Mechanical Design, or equivalent experience.

5 years of drafting/design experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.

Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor strongly preferred.

Prior exposure to heat exchanger design or similar engineered equipment is a plus.

Solid understanding of mechanical principles, manufacturing methods, and material behavior.

Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced setting.

Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
Work Environment
-
Hybrid office/manufacturing setting with regular time spent on the shop floor.

Use of standard office technology, CAD tools, and ERP systems.

When in the plant, proper PPE is required (e.g., safety glasses, hearing protection, safety footwear).
Physical Requirements
-
Regular standing and walking; occasional bending, kneeling, ladder climbing, and reaching.

Ability to lift or move up to 25 lbs.

Visual abilities must include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, with ability to adjust focus.
Schedule
-
Full-time, Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Occasional evenings or weekends may be needed based on workload.
