Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure team. This role focuses on the design, implementation, management, and optimization of core infrastructure systems with a specialization MSFT Technologies. Must also have familiarity with VMware but must fully understand MSFT and related technologies. The Senior Systems Engineer will play a key role in ensuring the stability, scalability, and security of the organization's IT infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities Core
• Core Infrastructure Management
o Design, deploy, and manage enterprise infrastructure, including servers, storage, and networking components.
o Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements to ensure high availability and reliability.
o Lead infrastructure-related projects, including upgrades, migrations, and system integrations.
• Configuration Management
o Develop and maintain scripts (PowerShell, PowerCLI, Python, etc.) for system automation and process improvements.
o Automate repetitive tasks, enhance monitoring capabilities, and ensure system configurations adhere to best practices.
o Implement and maintain security measures to protect core infrastructure systems.
o Ensure compliance with organizational policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaboration and Leadership
o Work closely with cross-functional teams, including network engineers, database administrators, and application developers.
o Mentor junior team members and provide technical leadership.
o Document system configurations, processes, and workflows to ensure knowledge transfer.
Skills and Technologies
Core Systems and Infrastructure:
• Windows Servers: Configuration, management, and performance tuning
• Active Directory (AD): Management of users, groups, and roles
• Group Policy (GPO): Administration and customization
• DNS and DHCP: Configuration and troubleshooting
• Public Key Infrastructure (PKI): Implementation and management
• Virtualization: VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter nice to know
Storage Solutions:
• SAN, NAS, and Storage Spaces Direct
• Familiarity with NetApp, Dell EMC, and HPE storage solutions
• Data retention, deduplication, and archiving strategies
Monitoring and Performance:
• Tools: SolarWinds, SCOM, PRTG
• Synthetic transactions and real-time alerting
• Performance tuning for Windows servers and virtual environments
• Root cause analysis for recurring performance issues
Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in IT infrastructure engineering
• Certifications:
o MSFT certifications considered highly desirable
o Certifications such as Microsoft, Cisco, or cloud platform certifications (Azure/AWS) are a plus.
