Location: Near Naugatuck, CT
Reports to: CFO
Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Salary: $100K-$120K

Are you an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys leading a team? We’re looking for a hands-on Controller to oversee accounting operations, drive process improvements, and help support financial decision-making for a growing, multi-entity business near Naugatuck, CT.

This is an exciting opportunity to step into a leadership role where you’ll manage everything from daily cashflow and financial reporting to budgeting, compliance, and internal controls.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate all core accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Invoicing, Inventory Reconciliations, and Cash Flow Management.

  • Review and prepare monthly and year-end financial statements and reports.

  • Oversee daily cash tracking and banking activity.

  • Manage the budget process and assist leadership with forecasts and KPI analysis.

  • Support decision-making by providing financial insights to executive leadership.

  • Supervise and support accounting staff, ensuring timely closure of Purchase Orders and reconciliations.

  • Collaborate across departments to improve processes and enhance operational efficiency.

  • Manage relationships with customers, vendors, and third-party partners.

  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, internal controls, and audit requirements.

  • Coordinate with external auditors and prepare all required documentation.


Specific Tasks Include:

  • Daily review of financial flash reports and cash position updates

  • Monitor and approve checks, wires, and banking transactions

  • Prepare and submit factoring packets as needed

  • Post revenue from multiple income streams (brokerage, reverse logistics, warehouse storage, etc.)

  • Record and reconcile inventory costs, payroll, prepaids, and accruals

  • Handle sales tax filings and reconciliations (FL, MA, NY, NJ, CT)

  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure accurate financial reporting

  • Support audit completion and respond to audit requests

  • Generate performance reports (KPIs) to identify strengths and weaknesses in the business


What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in a Controller or Senior Accounting role

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting

  • Proficiency with ERP systems and Excel

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

  • Detail-oriented with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
