Nesco Resource, a national staffing firm has partnered with a leading engineering consulting firm in order to identify a Resident Engineer to support Section 8 of the NYS DOT
Responsibilities:
Overseeing all on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with plans and specifications, managing field notes and reports, and resolving construction issues while maintaining adherence to schedules and safety standards.
- Construction Supervision: Oversee all on-site construction activities, ensuring they align with project specifications and standards.
- Progress Monitoring: Monitor project progress against the construction schedule and contractor's reports, assessing any potential delays and informing the project manager and client.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that completed work complies with plans and specifications, focusing on quality control and adherence to safety standards.
- Contract Compliance: Verify and document overall contract compliance, interpret project drawings and specifications, and provide recommendations to the client.
- Coordination: Coordinate with various teams, including contractors, subcontractors, inspectors, and other stakeholders.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate records and reports related to the project, including field notes, progress reports, and meeting minutes.
- Contract Administration: Contractor Interaction: Act as the primary point of contact and coordinate directly with the general contractor, negotiating change orders and managing contract-related issues.
- Submittal Review: Regularly review and approve contract submittals and payment applications from contractors.
- Change Order Management: Manage change orders, ensuring they are properly documented and approved.
- Invoice Review: Participate in the contractor's invoice review process.
- Technical Expertise and Problem Solving: Technical Advice: Provide technical advice on construction and design matters.
- Issue Resolution: Proactively identify and address potential construction issues, taking pride in preventing delays or rework.
- Material Inspection: Inspect materials and ensure they meet project specifications.
- Field Site Activities: Oversee field site activities and provide technical advice on construction and design.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
- Professional Engineer license (NY/NJ) or NICET IV
- 10 years of experience in RE activities and managing construction field teams.
- Experience in NYSDOT, NYSTA, MTA-Bridge & Tunnel or Metro-North Railroad construction projects.
- Project Management Procedures (PMP's) and Project Management Guidelines (PMG's) familiarity a plus.
- Candidates must have the ability to drive.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Outreach Training certification required.
