As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will oversee the technical aspects of developing, establishing, testing, and improving manufacturing systems and methods, including automation, processing equipment, material handling equipment, tooling, fixtures, jigs, and testing equipment. You’ll be pivotal in ensuring that standard operating procedures (SOPs) remain relevant and are implemented to drive safety, quality, and efficiency in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities:
Process Improvement & Optimization:
- Continuously analyze and enhance manufacturing systems, including automation, material handling, tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
- Identify inefficiencies in processes and implement solutions to reduce costs, lead times, and improve overall productivity.
- Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing needs, ensuring alignment with customer demand.
- Track and assess key performance metrics to drive improvements in efficiency, productivity, and quality.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange the purchase of equipment, materials, or parts while ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Collaborate with management, engineering, and other teams regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and resource needs to facilitate production processes.
- Lead training initiatives and support continuous learning to ensure team members are aligned with best practices and process improvements.
Technical Oversight & Equipment Management:
- Oversee equipment maintenance, ensuring that tasks and schedules align with manufacturer recommendations to minimize downtime.
- Design and commission 3D CAD models for tooling, fixtures, and equipment, driving innovation and efficiency in the process.
- Ensure that manufacturing systems are well-maintained and continuously perform at optimal capacity.
Cost Analysis & Workflow Management:
- Analyze labor costs, staffing, equipment placement, and space requirements to improve workflow, optimize production areas, and eliminate bottlenecks.
- Plan and optimize facility layouts to maximize space utilization and efficiency, reducing waste and improving output.
Compliance & Quality Assurance:
- Ensure compliance with government regulations and industry standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO) to maintain a safe and effective manufacturing environment.
- Recommend and implement new policies or procedures to improve product quality and overall service delivery.
- Document manufacturing practices and conduct post-completion audits to ensure continuous improvement and compliance with process improvements.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering.
- 10 years of experience in manufacturing, with a focus on process improvement, systems optimization, and equipment management.
Required Skills:
- Expertise in process improvement and automation systems.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
- Strong knowledge of statistical analysis and forecasting tools.
- Experience with equipment maintenance and preventative scheduling.
- Ability to optimize workflow, facility layouts, and space utilization.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO).
- Excellent problem-solving, multitasking, and communication skills.
