PRIMARY PURPOSE:

This position will be responsible for sourcing both raw materials (chemicals) and components for new projects. Maintain high quality relationships with existing vendors as well as searching for new or alternating vendors. Creating a strategic sourcing process for quoting and improving the project management for the procurement process.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sources materials for projects initiated by Project Management or Business Development/Marketing
  • Establish working relationships with suppliers that support company goals and objectives while monitoring the levels of service, quality and competitive pricing.
Administer request for quotations, examine bids and recommend suppliers to the Purchasing Director, R & D and Project Management.
  • Source new materials/ suppliers within the quality guidelines as required for new and existing projects.
  • Negotiate cost, terms and service with vendors to meet company's goals and objectives.
  • Participates on project management project teams as necessary.
  • This position requires working closely with cross-functional partners in Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, Project Management, Quality, Engineering, Purchasing and Product Development.
  • Support contract creation and execution for key supplier relationships.
  • Support RFQs, evaluate proposals, negotiate prices.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment interacting with plant personnel, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure materials sourced meet customer specifications and that all documentation supports these specifications.
  • Clear communication style to work with Suppliers, internal & external customers/stakeholders and executive management.
  • Perform commercial procurement of raw materials and components as needed.
  • Manage others within the department.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required
  • 3-5 years of procurement experience or equivalent.
  • Must have a strong sense of urgency and is improvement and quality driven.
  • Ability to multi-task in a faced paced environment.

Preferred Additional

  • Experience with USP/NF/Food Grade chemical
  • data mining skills with office products a must.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Power Point
  • Ability to write presentations and reports at the executive level.
  • Analytical data mining skills with office products a must.
