Nesco Resource is seeking a Senior Heavy Duty Diesel Technician, in Coeymans, NY. Our client is an industry leader in Construction and Maritime services. The Senior Heavy Duty Diesel Technician is a lead-level technician responsible for advanced diagnostics, major component repairs, and technical support in both shop and field environments. This role serves as a technical resource to the team, supports shop operations, and helps maintain high standards for safety, quality, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities

Perform advanced diagnostics and major repairs on engines, transmissions, differentials, and powertrain systems

Troubleshoot complex electrical, after-treatment, hydraulic, air, and brake systems

Use OEM diagnostic software (Cummins, Volvo, CAT, etc.) to diagnose and validate repairs

Conduct DOT inspections and certify completed repairs

Perform road tests, calibrations, and post-repair verifications

Support emergency roadside and field service repairs as needed

Train and mentor Technician I–II employees

Maintain accurate repair documentation and work order notes in the maintenance system

Support maintenance planning, reliability improvements, and downtime reduction
Qualifications
Experience
-
5–8 years of heavy-duty truck or equipment diagnostics and repair experience
Certifications & Skills
-
Valid driver’s license; CDL-A preferred with clean driving record

Strong knowledge of diesel engines, diagnostics, and after-treatment systems

OEM diagnostic certifications preferred

Inspector’s License preferred

Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work with tools for extended periods
