Nesco Resource is looking for a Shipping Operator located in Brookfield, CT. This is a temp to perm opportunity for the right candidate.
Shift: Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM
Pay: $21/hour or based on Experience
Position Summary: The Shipping Operator is responsible for accurately and efficiently processing outgoing and incoming shipments in accordance with established procedures. This role involves preparing, labeling, staging, loading, and unloading products, as well as receiving raw materials and finished goods. The Shipping Operator plays a key role in ensuring safe handling, proper documentation, and timely movement of materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare orders for shipment by labeling, staging, and verifying products.
- Review shipment requirements and ensure orders are complete and accurate.
- Pick and scan products using a mobile device or warehouse system.
- Package and stage shipments using appropriate materials (e.g., shrink wrap, corner boards).
- Apply packing slips and required shipping documentation.
- Process and confirm shipments within the shipping/ERP system.
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
- Load and unload trucks, ensuring products are secured and protected for transport.
- Receive raw materials and finished goods, including containers, packaging components, chemicals, reusable containers, and customer returns.
- Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory practices.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Ensure compliance with all procedures related to shipping, receiving, and material handling.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1–2 years of experience in a shipping, warehouse, or logistics role preferred.
- Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
- Ability to bend, lift, and move up to 70 lbs.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong multitasking ability and time management skills.
- Familiarity with inventory systems and shipping software preferred.
