Design Engineer
Location: Rochester, NY
Salary Range: $75k-$85k

Nesco Resource is hiring a Design Engineer for a local manufacturing facility in Rochester. This role is ideal for an early-career engineer who enjoys balancing hands-on design work with cost estimation and manufacturability planning. You'll play a key role in supporting new and existing products from concept through production.
What You'll Work On

Develop mechanical designs with a strong focus on manufacturability and cost efficiency

Create detailed manufacturing cost estimates using established processes and procedures

Review customer CAD files, drawings, specifications, and proposals to determine labor, materials, and timelines

Build and maintain multi-level bills of materials (BOMs) and detailed work instructions

Support new product development from initial design through production release

Design fixtures as needed to improve efficiency and reduce non-value-added activities

Collaborate with customers, internal engineering, manufacturing, and sales teams during technical discussions

Communicate with suppliers regarding design details and cost considerations

Effectively plan, organize, and prioritize tasks to meet project timelines
What We're Looking For

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering

Recent graduates up to 3 years of engineering experience encouraged to apply

Working knowledge of drafting standards, GD&T, and interpretation of engineering drawings

Understanding of manufacturing processes and process control preferred

Familiarity with CNC machining practices, tooling, and machining theory a plus

Valid driver's license and passport required (occasional international travel)
Work Environment

Production office setting within a manufacturing facility

Periodic exposure to shop-floor conditions such as noise, dust, fumes, and odors

Regular use of standard office and engineering equipment
