Join Our Team as a Kiln Operator
We are a leading tile manufacturer based in Lawrenceburg, KY, seeking skilled individuals to join our team as Kiln Operators. This role involves working on a 2-2-3 schedule during the 2nd shift. While respirators are not required, experience in kiln operations is essential for this position.
Summary
Perform intermediate skilled work in operating and maintaining kilns, with related duties as required. Work is performed under general supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor all production kilns.
- Manage kiln loading and unloading machines.
- Handle kiln start-up and lighting procedures.
- Monitor and regulate kiln operating parameters.
- Record temperatures and other necessary parameters.
- Ensure burners are functioning correctly.
- Verify that kiln fans and transfers are operating properly.
- Respond to and assist with kiln emergencies.
- Ensure smooth product flow through kilns.
- Operate forklift for job-related duties.
- Perform assigned preventive maintenance duties.
- Organize and assist with roller changes.
- Maintain cleanliness of assigned area.
- Work on hot components while wearing appropriate protective gear.
- Practice correct safety procedures.
- Perform related tasks as required.
Qualifications
Candidates should have a general knowledge of the principles and practices of operating and servicing kilns, as well as the occupational hazards involved and necessary safety precautions. Familiarity with materials being fired and propane burner systems is required. Candidates must have the ability to make decisions, follow oral and written instructions, direct the work of other personnel, and assume safety responsibility for the entire crew. An equivalent combination of education and experience to high school graduation is expected.
