Revenue Cycle Specialist – Stand-Alone ER / Urgent Care
Location: Greater Houston
A growing stand-alone ER / urgent care group in Greater Houston is seeking an experienced Revenue Cycle Specialist to improve billing systems, strengthen reimbursement processes, and build scalable workflows across multiple locations. This is a high-impact role for someone who understands RCM deeply and can help create the structure needed to support continued expansion.
About the Role
The Revenue Cycle Specialist will take ownership of the full billing and reimbursement process—assessing current workflows, improving system accuracy, and helping build standardized processes that support multi-site operations. This role is hands-on, analytical, and essential to improving the financial performance of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Revenue Cycle Optimization
- Evaluate and improve current RCM workflows from registration through collections
- Enhance charge capture, documentation accuracy, coding, billing, and claims submission
- Identify gaps in the internal billing system and implement stronger structure and processes
- Monitor AR, denials, and reimbursement trends to improve financial outcomes
Process & Systems Development
- Build scalable RCM processes for existing and future locations
- Improve data accuracy, reporting, and billing capture
- Create SOPs, documentation standards, and quality controls
- Partner with operations and front-office staff to streamline handoffs and workflows
Compliance & Quality
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and payer-specific billing guidelines
- Provide insights and guidance on ER/urgent care–specific coding and billing requirements
- Conduct audits and recommend improvements to reduce denials and increase accuracy
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with operations leadership to align RCM processes with broader business goals
- Provide reporting, trends, and recommendations that support executive decision-making
- Help reduce operational overload by stabilizing and improving the billing ecosystem
What You Bring
- 3–7 years of experience in Revenue Cycle Management
- Strong understanding of ER, urgent care, or acute care coding & billing
- Experience fixing, improving, or rebuilding billing workflows
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- Ability to create structure, systems, and measurable improvements
- Strong communication and ability to work effectively across clinical and administrative teams
