Client is looking for a motivated and team-oriented individual who is passionate about next generation sequencing technology. The chosen candidate will become an expert on the operation, theory, and data analysis from the new Client Single Molecule Sequencing platform. Drawing on experience in systems, biochemistry, electrochemistry, and/or materials science, the System Engineer will design and execute experiments on the Client sequencing platform and will help develop and analyze microfluidic device surfaces, interfaces, and processes. The System Engineer will analyze and succinctly present experimental results with actionable next steps identified related to the robustness of the microfluidic device and the system. The candidate must be self-motivated, details-oriented, and able to work well in a team.
Responsibilities:
Accurately and consistently execute and record experimental method, materials, and results.
Become an expert on the operation of the Client High Throughput Sequencing Platform.
Design, implement, and analyze sequencing results of various microfluidic device process changes and various operating parameters.
Investigate, troubleshoot, conduct failure analysis, and perform device development in a fast-paced environment.
Debug instrumentation, device, and software issues to create a robust platform.
Understand and apply statistical methods, design of experiments, and/or process control monitoring techniques.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.

0-5 years applicable industry experience. Preferably 2 years experience.
B.S. in bioengineering, electrical or mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, statistics, or a related discipline with a background in molecular biology, biochemistry, or surface/materials science.
Meticulous attention to detail and excellent written and electronic record keeping skills.
Proficiency in writing technical reports and verbally communicating with other technical staff.
Excellent troubleshooting (experimental, instrument, device, software, reagents) and problem solving skills, along with experimental design experience.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Self-motivated and able to work well in a team.
Prefer experience with statistical data analysis using JMP or Python.
Prefer Python programming experience.
Prefer understanding of or experience with DNA manipulation techniques, sequencing methodologies, or other wet laboratory instrumentation.
