1st shift, 8am-4:30pm.
Typically this position works 40 hours per week, but mandatory OT is possible.

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for assuring product quality through dimensional layout and visual inspection based on given standards and procedures. Provides training for Inspectors to increase competency levels of the department. Contributes to in-house scrap reduction activities. Maintains a positive attitude and good employee morale toward teamwork, safety and quality.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.Responsible for knowing and following Company policies as directed by Employee Handbook, Safety Rules and Regulations, and the Quality Manual.

2.Responsible for programming and operating the QC Lab Equipment including the CMM and Gear Measurement Machine to correctly measure.

3.Ensures the correct handling and use of Hardness Tester and Contamination Test Equipment.

  1. Correctly measure and document part characteristics in accordance with customer requirements, part-specific control plans, and measurement requests.

5.Programming the computerized SPC System. Training operators in proper use and data collection. Reporting SPC results as directed.

6.Developments and maintains work instructions and related documentation. Trains QC Inspectors in the use of all equipment in QC lab.

  1. Prepares training plans for new and current inspectors, maintains operator certification programs, and reports the training results to Management via the Competency Certification Record.

8.Instructs inspectors on the PCC. Follows up with inspectors' activities based on the inspection requirement and communicates feedback problems to Management.

  1. Supports in-house scrap reduction activities by conducting data collection, preliminary analysis and countermeasure suggestions, and presents to QC Engineer or Supervisor.
  2. Maintains a clean and organized work area and equipment.
  3. Other duties as requested by Quality Supervisor and Engineer.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY:

No supervisory responsibility over others. However, strong work ethics and high moral values are attributes sought after for this position and for higher-level positions within the department and the Company.

QUALIFICATIONS: ( TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION)

  • High School Diploma or GED (Associate's Degree preferred).
  • At least 5 years related experience.

Non-destructive testing Level 1 certification preferred.

  • ASQ Certified Quality Technician status preferred.

Minimum of three years experience in dimensional layout inspection.

  • Minimum of two year experience programming and operating a three dimensional machine.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Proficient in the use of SPC data and collection.
  • Fully understand non-destructive testing in relation to raw material, heat treatment and welding.
  • Computer literature in MS Office software (Word, Excel, and Access) specifically for the purpose of developing reports and graphs.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to train others.
  • Good organization skills.
