Truss Builder
Schedule: Monday through Friday
Hours: 7:30-4:30
Location: Sanford area
Pay: $16-17 per hour
The job of a wood truss builder typically involves working from technical plans and blueprints to determine the specifications for each truss. They use tools such as saws, hammers, and nail guns to cut and assemble wood trusses to the required dimensions. They must also have a strong understanding of how wood reacts to different environments and loads, as well as an ability to work with wood in a variety of shapes and sizes.
Wood truss builders must be able to work independently or as part of a team, depending on the scope of the project. They need to have strong physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials and work at heights. They should also be comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments.
Position Duties- Read technical plans and blueprints to determine the specifications for each wood truss.
- Measure and cut wood to the required dimensions using hand or power tools, such as saws, drills, and nail guns.
- Assemble wood trusses using fasteners such as nails, screws, and bolts.
- Ensure that each truss is built to the required specifications and meets all safety standards.
- Install completed wood trusses in the correct location, ensuring that they are secure and properly aligned.
- Conduct quality control checks on completed wood trusses to ensure that they meet all requirements and are free of defects.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the proper storage of materials and tools.
- Communicate with other construction professionals, including architects, engineers, and contractors, to ensure that the wood trusses are installed properly and according to the design plan.
- Troubleshoot problems that arise during the wood truss installation process and develop solutions to address them.
- Follow all safety guidelines and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for themselves and others.
