Summary:

The Mechanical Engineer plays a pivotal role in developing and enhancing mechanical designs, drawings, and PCB outlines for new product development and improvements. Their primary focus lies in crafting inventive Battery/Electronic Packaging Designs tailored for aerospace applications. Proficiency in 3-D modeling and thermal and stress simulation tools for ensuring design integrity.

Top Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Master's preferred
  2. Demonstrated experience (7 years) in mechanical design, documentation, and packaging of electronic assemblies. (5  years) of experience may be considered with the correct work experience background)
  3. Proficient knowledge of SolidWorks CAD & PDM for design


Additional Requirements:
The ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • Proficiency in design, documentation, and assembly instructions of electronic components and assemblies
  • Proficiency in design, documentation, and assembly instructions of electronic components and assemblies
  • Experience in creating detailed mechanical drawings for various parts
  • Familiarity with aerospace standards like DO-160, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, etc. (Preferred)
  • Advanced skills in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) best practices
  • Ability to use thermal and stress simulation tools (SolidWorks, Flotherm, Ansys, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of Welds, Solder, and Interconnect techniques
  • Experience with Static and Dynamic FEA models desired
  • Positive attitude and ability to work within a team is desired


Primary Responsibilities:
In this position, the individual will be accountable for, but not restricted to, the following tasks:

  • Designing mechanical components and packaging electronics for both primary and backup battery power units and chargers.
  • Collaborating with Electrical and PCB Layout Engineers to strategically place critical parts on PCB assemblies.
  • Generating necessary assembly drawings and wire lists/diagrams for product documentation and sales proposals.
  • Conducting thorough design verification and tolerance checks to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Performing analysis, including thermal and stress assessments, to validate the integrity of designs.
  • Contributing insights and presenting findings during Design Reviews.
  • Generating, revising, and maintaining engineering drawings and parts lists.
  • Creating assembly drawings in accordance with Component Maintenance Manuals.
  • Assisting Manufacturing Engineers in the seamless transfer of units from the engineering phase to manufacturing.
  • Actively participating in efforts to reduce product costs by identifying and validating alternative parts.
