Responsibilities:
- Assist with the daily operation of the food bank, including sorting, stocking, and organizing donated items.
- Greet and assist clients in a courteous and respectful manner, providing them with information on available resources and assistance programs.
- Collaborate with volunteers to ensure efficient workflow and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Conduct regular inventory checks to monitor stock levels and track expiration dates, ensuring the availability of fresh and nutritious options.
- Support outreach efforts to raise awareness about the services and engage with the local community through events, presentations, and partnerships.
- Maintain accurate records of distribution, client interactions, and volunteer hours using designated databases and systems.
- Adhere to food safety standards and procedures to ensure the quality and integrity of distributed items.
- Assist with special projects and initiatives as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in social services, nutrition, or related fields preferred.
- Prior experience in food service, customer service, or nonprofit organizations is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations, including clients, volunteers, and staff members.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry, are preferred.
