Job Title: Machine Operator

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operates production equipment to produce products in accordance with production needs.
  • Produces assigned products in accordance with verbal and written instructions.
  • Inspects parts and documents findings on appropriate paperwork as needed.
  • Records length of time and quantity of materials used for each job.
  • Maintains work areas in a clean, orderly, and safe manner, including returning tools to designated areas.
  • Performs machine maintenance and repairs as required using hand tools.
  • Works to close tolerances and selects speeds, feeds, and tools for varying conditions according to reference manuals or materials for machine setups and repair.
  • Notifies management of product discrepancies, equipment malfunctions, and/or personal injuries.
  • Reports any problems or discrepancies to the immediate supervisor.
  • Complies with company policies and procedures, paying special attention to safety regulations.
  • Wears personal protective equipment in accordance with training guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
