Job Description:

Senior Database Developer

Responsibilities:

Strategy & Planning:

  • Collaborate with business units to elicit and analyze project requirements.
  • Assess technical requirements and conduct feasibility and cost/benefit analyses.
  • Plan and coordinate tasks, reporting progress, and liaising with development teams.
  • Identify, design, and implement process improvements, including automation and infrastructure enhancements.

Development & Deployment:

  • Execute complex programming tasks adhering to established standards and best practices.
  • Architect application and database components for development initiatives.
  • Analyze business models and specifications to design and develop internet solutions using diverse technologies.
  • Utilize advanced SQL knowledge to optimize query performance and guide other developers.

Operational Management:

  • Maintain and enhance applications, adhering to approved change management procedures.
  • Provide support for application issues and troubleshoot SQL queries for performance enhancements.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert for critical production problems and proactively improve database performance.
  • Coordinate with other developers and provide tier 2, on-call support for critical issues.

Incidental Functions:

  • Research and evaluate modern technologies, sharing knowledge with development teams.
  • Mentor and coach developers, as well as manage projects and tasks as needed.
  • Deliver presentations to stakeholders and lead project meetings.
  • Address audit concerns and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Perform application server maintenance tasks and participate in platform migrations.

Qualifications:

Formal Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • 5 years of IT experience with expertise in Oracle database development.
  • Proficiency in PL/SQL, SQL Loader, UNIX scripting, and Exadata Oracle Performance Tuning.
  • Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, data pipelines, and architectures.
