Role Overview:
The DevOps Engineering Platform Manager holds a pivotal role in overseeing multiple Delivery & Release Engineering Platforms and their respective teams. Primarily, the role entails crafting, refining, and advancing modular DevOps platforms tailored to the needs of product delivery, platform, and support teams. These platforms encompass a wide array of capabilities including but not limited to Source Code Management (SCM), Continuous Integration & Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Containerization, Package & Artifact Management, Release Management, Test Automation, Observability, and Agile Work Management. The incumbent is tasked with fostering DevOps adoption, proactively optimizing performance, conducting capacity planning, and championing continuous improvement initiatives.

Salary: $150,000-$161,000

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy & Planning:

  • Shape vision and strategy for feature-rich DevOps platforms, incorporating input from diverse stakeholders.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and modern software development techniques, translating insights into actionable strategies.
  • Develop frameworks for enhancing ROI and fostering DevOps adoption.
  • Establish processes and standards for capacity and scalability planning, with a keen emphasis on cybersecurity compliance.
  • Cultivate a collaborative, innovative culture, driving automation initiatives and optimizing platform usage.

Acquisition & Deployment:

  • Prioritize and define work through governance processes, while tracking and communicating accomplishments.
  • Make budget recommendations aligned with team and platform needs.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure technology solutions align with business objectives.
  • Assess project requests related to Delivery & Release Engineering needs, providing accurate estimates of time and effort involved.
  • Spearhead security measures to safeguard information integrity and confidentiality.

Operational Management:

  • Cultivate a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Implement proactive performance tuning practices and capacity planning methodologies.
  • Mentor the team on DevSecOps principles, emphasizing the creation of high-quality, reusable automation adhering to industry standards.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve enterprise DevOps platform issues promptly.
  • Conduct knowledge transfer sessions and oversee staffing, performance, and resource management activities.
  • Drive personal and professional growth initiatives for team members.

Incidental Functions:

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of technical systems and contribute to disaster planning and recovery efforts.
  • Facilitate communication on project status, issues, and deliverables.
  • Participate in Proof-of-Value assessments for new technologies.


Qualifications:

Formal Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology, or equivalent experience.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • 12 years of IT experience with 6 years in direct report management.
  • Extensive experience supporting DevOps toolchain platforms such as SCM, CI/CD, IaC, Containerization, and/or Package Management.
  • Proficiency in designing, executing, and supporting practices related to SCM, CI/CD, IaC, Containerization, and/or Package Management.
  • Strong familiarity with Linux, containers, and Kubernetes.
  • Demonstrated experience in documentation and technical solution presentations.

Preferred Knowledge & Skills:

  • Experience with Azure and/or AWS cloud offerings.
  • Proficiency with tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Terraform, Docker, Artifactory, Sonar, LaunchDarkly, or equivalents.
  • Familiarity with Agile development and release methodologies.
