● Mask Up

Even if your employer's masks aren’t mandated, they are recommended by the CDC as a safety precaution against COVID-19. By wearing a mask, you play a part in keeping your workplace safe and hopefully encouraging others to do the same. Plus, wearing a mask can keep you from inadvertently touching your face and potentially infecting yourself if you have touched contaminated surfaces. 

● Follow a Strict Hygiene Practice

Due to the extremely contagious nature of the COVID-19 virus, intentionally strict hygiene is crucial. Wash your hands thoroughly after touching surfaces, and before you touch your face - if you cannot get to a sink, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer. This may require you to slow down and consider your actions more carefully, when they may have been more automatic in the past, but mindfulness will go a long way toward protecting yourself.  

● Keep Your Distance

Physical distancing, or staying at least six feet away from others, whenever possible, is another key public health recommendation for preventing the spread of COVID-19. Your workspace’s distance from your colleagues or customers may not be within your control, but there are numerous other ways to keep your distance throughout the workday that you can control. Avoid sharing elevators, walking closely in hallways or doorways, using communal break spaces, and shaking hands. 

● Clean and Sanitize Shared Surfaces

Before you have to touch any shared surface at your workplace, make it a priority to clean and sanitize it. This includes tables, chairs, keyboards, printers, door handles, and other office supplies. This is especially important if you work in a public-facing role and interact with customers.
