Position Overview

The Plant Accountant plays a key role in supporting plant operations through financial reporting, variance analysis, and cost management. This position partners closely with plant and corporate leadership to analyze production data, identify improvement opportunities, and ensure financial accuracy and compliance. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical acumen, ERP experience (SAP preferred), and the ability to translate financial insights into operational decisions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead annual budgeting and monthly forecasting activities; prepare and present results to corporate stakeholders.

  • Conduct production and inventory variance analysis, identify root causes, and develop corrective actions.

  • Serve as primary approver for plant expenses and drive cost savings initiatives.

  • Partner with the legal team on site contract management.

  • Support capital project proposals, including financial modeling and presentation to leadership.

  • Assist with Accounts Payable functions as needed.

  • Lead the annual physical inventory process, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

  • Manage fixed asset accounting, including acquisition, maintenance, and disposals.

  • Support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with SOX controls and internal accounting procedures.

  • Collaborate with the Plant Manager and operations teams on ad hoc analysis and recurring financial reports.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

  • 2 years of accounting experience within a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience with a fully integrated ERP system (SAP strongly preferred).

  • Advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis).

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

  • Prior experience leading group or cross-functional projects preferred.
