Summary:
This role is responsible for the operation and troubleshooting of distillation and chemical processing equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude and be comfortable working in a dynamic, hands-on environment. Candidates with backgrounds in automotive repair, maintenance, or similar mechanically focused roles often excel in this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor distillation and reaction process equipment.
- Charge stills and perform process plumbing lineups using hoses, hard lines, and fittings.
- Manage inventory through accurate documentation and material transfers.
- Package liquid into drums, pails, or gallon containers using various packaging methods.
- Sample and label distillation cuts; perform GC (Gas Chromatography) analysis on samples.
- Adjust run conditions based on analytical results and processing performance.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area (housekeeping).
- Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, and general Food Safety Standards.
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment (e.g., drum pickers, pallet jacks).
- Shift Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off — Thursday through Wednesday
- Night Shift Hours: 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM (Thursday evening through Thursday morning)
- Despite the 12-hour shift schedule, the position averages 40 hours of pay per week over the two-week cycle, and you won’t go a week without a paycheck.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand cause and effect in process troubleshooting.
- Prior experience as a home or professional mechanic, maintenance technician, or in a similar mechanically intensive role is preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and perform physical tasks such as bending, stretching, reaching, and ducking.
- Comfortable standing for moderate periods.
- Familiarity with distillation, chemical processing, or industrial operations is a plus.
