Job Title: Accounting Specialist
Shift: 1st (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Employment Type: Full-time
Position Summary
The Accounting Specialist is responsible for performing a range of accounting tasks, including posting, verifying, and reconciling data across multiple functions such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Billing, Payroll, and Cost Accounting. This position requires a solid understanding of accounting principles and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare accounts receivable, journal vouchers, billing statements, and financial/operating reports

Post and balance journal entries; analyze and reconcile ledger accounts

Maintain and type vouchers, invoices, reports, and other financial documents

Assist in the preparation of financial statements and operating reports

Process payroll, including time records, deductions (taxes, 401(k), garnishments), and disbursements

Review and assist accounting clerks as needed

Investigate and correct discrepancies in accounting records

Interface with internal departments, management, customers, and vendors

Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of accounting or payroll experience

Associate degree in Accounting or equivalent coursework preferred

Proficient in data entry and use of accounting software (e.g., Lotus 1-2-3 or similar)

Strong 10-key calculator skills (by touch)

Accurate typing skills (minimum 35 WPM may be required)

Knowledge of basic accounting principles and California labor laws (if applicable)
