Job Title: Accounting Specialist

Shift: 1st (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Employment Type: Full-time

Position Summary

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for performing a range of accounting tasks, including posting, verifying, and reconciling data across multiple functions such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Billing, Payroll, and Cost Accounting. This position requires a solid understanding of accounting principles and the ability to work with minimal supervision.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accounts receivable, journal vouchers, billing statements, and financial/operating reports

  • Post and balance journal entries; analyze and reconcile ledger accounts

  • Maintain and type vouchers, invoices, reports, and other financial documents

  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and operating reports

  • Process payroll, including time records, deductions (taxes, 401(k), garnishments), and disbursements

  • Review and assist accounting clerks as needed

  • Investigate and correct discrepancies in accounting records

  • Interface with internal departments, management, customers, and vendors

  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting or payroll experience

  • Associate degree in Accounting or equivalent coursework preferred

  • Proficient in data entry and use of accounting software (e.g., Lotus 1-2-3 or similar)

  • Strong 10-key calculator skills (by touch)

  • Accurate typing skills (minimum 35 WPM may be required)

  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and California labor laws (if applicable)
