The Data Center Facility Manager is responsible for overseeing daily site operations, customer support, and maintenance activities across the Data Center and/or associated campus facilities. This role ensures the reliability of mechanical, electrical, and IT infrastructure essential to supporting customer needs. The position may include direct leadership of the Data Center Support Technician (DCST) team, guiding all facilities-related maintenance, installations, and expansions. Additionally, the Facility Manager oversees campus landscaping and irrigation systems and handles site-level financial processing and accounts payable responsibilities.
This role manages and schedules internal technical staff including DCSTs, Building Engineers, and external contractors.

Core Responsibilities:

Ensure continuous uptime and reliability of critical infrastructure supporting Colocation Data Center operations.

Lead and supervise Data Center Support Technicians, Building Engineers, and contractors.

Manage workforce scheduling, training, and professional development initiatives.

Oversee the upkeep and performance of power and environmental systems, including Client controls.

Deliver outstanding customer service and maintain client satisfaction.

Estimate labor and materials for routine maintenance and new projects.

Assist in budget planning and maintain operational expenses within allocated budgets.

Review, code, and approve site-related invoices and expenses.

Approve customer billing charges related to facility services where applicable.

Monitor and inspect work completed by external contractors for quality and compliance.

Provide 24/7 on-call support to ensure uninterrupted operations.

Administer service agreements, vendor contracts, and ensure adherence to compliance requirements.

Maintain and manage asset tracking and work order systems, including setup of new processes as needed.

Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures, maintenance protocols, and refine them as necessary.

Maintain up-to-date facility documentation, including drawings, layouts, and project records.

Comply with all relevant codes, regulatory standards, and internal safety/security protocols.

Coordinate building automation and Client operations with applicable vendors.

Conduct root cause analyses for operational issues and develop corrective action plans.

Translate complex technical issues into understandable information for diverse stakeholders.

Improve system reliability and identify opportunities for increased operational efficiency.

Assess risk and develop scope documentation for maintenance and repair initiatives.

Serve as the day-to-day contact for internal teams, customers, and external vendors.
Qualifications:
Education & Certifications:

High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree and/or relevant certifications strongly preferred.

5 years' experience in Data Center operations.

5 years of experience managing commercial facility systems.

Background with building automation/control systems.
Technical & Professional Experience:

Deep understanding of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing infrastructure.

Skilled in managing teams, providing mentorship, and fostering team performance.

Familiar with industry standards such as ASHRAE and best practices in data center operations.

Proficiency with fire/life safety systems, electrical distribution, and system design.

Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.

Familiarity with AutoCAD, Visio, and Microsoft Office tools; ability to interpret detailed schematics and technical drawings.
Physical Requirements & Abilities:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as climbing, walking, and stooping.

Skilled at reading technical diagrams and evaluating project risk based on cost, safety, and urgency.
