Head of Procurement & Supply Chain
Responsibilities
- Strategic Procurement Leadership: Develop and execute procurement strategies and optimize supply chain performance in alignment with Global procurement and with company objectives. Lead efforts to identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and risk mitigation.
- Supplier Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers. Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms and ensure the on-time delivery of high-quality products and services. Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues or disputes that may arise.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure procurement activities adhere to regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies. Monitor and manage supplier performance and address any issues that arise to minimize risk. Minimize impact of supplier shortages by proactively identifying and resolving potential material supply issues, timely communication, collaborating with Supply Chain for inventory build, and proper escalation.
- Market Analysis: Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and emerging technologies to make informed decisions and adapt procurement strategies as needed.
- Budget Management: Oversee the procurement budget, track expenses, and ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions. Manage KPI's to measure, control and benchmark procurement activities including savings, contract trackers, spend under each procurement category. Report on procurement performance and savings initiatives to senior management.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders, including global procurement, R&D, manufacturing, quality assurance, supply planning and finance teams, to understand their procurement needs and provide support in sourcing and managing materials and services.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement team. Foster a collaborative and results-oriented environment that encourages professional growth and continuous improvement. Conduct business in an ethical and professional manner to ensure avoidance of all actual and potential conflicts of interest
Requirements
- BS degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Engineering or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) are preferred.
- 8 years of procurement experience within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of procurement best practices and supply chain management.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to handle ambiguity, strategic thinking and decision making
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills. Ability to build cross-functional relationships and to interface effectively across all levels of the organization
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools, MS Office, SAP
- Sensitivity and understanding of Cultural differences and the ability to effectively engage on a global basis
- Ability to creatively solve business problems at speed, working with a high level of independence.
- Planning and organization skills Ability to establish work plans, multi-task and prioritize simultaneous initiatives.
