Position Overview
As a Machine Operator, you’ll be responsible for operating and maintaining manufacturing equipment that produces steel wire products. You'll ensure machines run smoothly, produce high-quality output, and adhere to strict safety and quality standards.
- Operate & Monitor Machinery
Start up, oversee, and shut down wire drawing or other related machines. Monitor key performance indicators like speed, tension, temperature, and pressure. - Quality Control
Perform regular inspections of wire diameter, surface condition, and tensile strength. Identify defects and take corrective actions. - Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Conduct basic preventive maintenance (lubrication, parts replacement). Quickly troubleshoot mechanical and minor electrical issues; report more complex faults to maintenance teams. - Safety & Compliance
Strictly follow all safety procedures, wear required PPE (helmets, gloves, glasses, ear protection), and maintain a clean workspace. Participate in safety meetings and incident reporting. - Recordkeeping & Documentation
Log production data, machine settings, maintenance activities, and defects. Assist in preparing reports related to productivity and compliance. - Team Collaboration
Work closely with peers, supervisors, and maintenance staff to optimize production processes. Train and support less experienced operators when needed.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience: Machine operation or manufacturing experience preferred; wire drawing or metalworking knowledge a plus.
- Skills: Mechanical aptitude; ability to read gauges and use hand/power tools; basic math skills; attention to detail.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in varying temperature/noise conditions.
- Scheduling: Flexibility to work all assigned shifts—could include nights, weekends, and overtime.
- Compliance: Willingness to complete drug screenings and background checks as required.
