Field Technician (Entry-Level)
We are seeking an entry-level Field Technician to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic and communications equipment. This position involves a combination of hands-on field work and collaborative technical support within a team environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in technology, be comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions, and be eager to learn and grow within a dynamic technical services organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot field hardware, including cameras, electronic signage, detection sensors, solar systems, media converters, and control equipment
- Work with basic computer hardware, operating systems, and networking devices
- Install and maintain electrical conductors, data cables, and fiber optic lines
- Set up pull boxes, conduit, poles, and mounting foundations
- Use test equipment such as volt meters, meggers, video monitors, and underground utility locators
- Conduct field testing and configuration of system components and firmware
- Provide preventive and corrective maintenance support
- Record detailed logs and reports on system status, installations, and repairs
- Assist with specialized equipment setup and system monitoring in coordination with project teams
- Collaborate with technical teams and attend project meetings as needed
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certifications preferred
- 0–2 years of relevant experience in electrical, electronics, or field support roles
- Valid driver's license in good standing
- Basic familiarity with electrical systems or networking concepts
- Comfortable working at heights (e.g., bucket trucks) and in confined spaces
- Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Able to lift/move up to 50 pounds regularly; occasionally up to 100 pounds
- Available for on-call or emergency response situations
Preferred Qualifications:
- CDL (Commercial Driver’s License)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask, adapt, and prioritize in a dynamic environment
- Interest in technical systems, equipment servicing, or infrastructure support
Work Environment:
- Frequent exposure to outdoor elements, electrical equipment, and moving vehicles
- Noise levels may be high; safety gear is required
- Team-oriented environment with mentorship opportunities and cross-regional project involvement
Physical Demands:
- Frequent standing, kneeling, crawling, and climbing
- Regular use of hand tools and small electronics
- Manual dexterity and the ability to distinguish color and depth perception
