Job Summary
Our client, a leading organization in the manufacturing sector, is seeking a dedicated and experienced HR Generalist to support both union and non-union employees. This position serves as a strategic advisor and hands-on HR practitioner, covering key functions such as employee engagement, talent acquisition, employee relations, payroll, and compliance. The ideal candidate will bring strong interpersonal skills and a well-rounded HR background, particularly within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Engagement & Culture

Organize quarterly engagement events at each location and annual holiday parties

Conduct annual employee engagement surveys, analyze trends, and recommend improvements

Manage community engagement within Paylocity
-
Participate in internal committees (Safety, Scholarship, Newsletter, HR Meetings, Town Halls)
Employee Relations & Compliance
-
Address and resolve employee complaints, conduct investigations, and mediate conflicts
-
Facilitate training and events to enhance employee relations
-
Analyze employee relations and performance data to recommend improvements
-
Develop and manage Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) and disciplinary actions
-
Conduct exit interviews, manage offboarding logistics, and oversee return of company property

Ensure compliance with labor laws and maintain accurate HR processes for onboarding, termination, and performance management
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

Meet weekly with hiring managers to assess and plan for staffing needs

Source, interview, and hire candidates for open positions

Create job descriptions, conduct wage analyses, and define KPIs

Open and close job postings, monitor recruiting metrics, and maintain ATS accuracy

Coordinate with third-party vendors and reconcile recruitment invoices

Manage recruiting events, employee referral programs, and related bonus processing
Payroll & HR Systems

Process payroll and maintain payroll tax compliance records

Act as backup for monthly payroll functions

Resolve payroll-related issues and inquiries
-
Administer timekeeping changes and ensure system accuracy

Utilize HR systems such as Paylocity and Workable
Training & Development

Lead new hire orientations and internal training sessions

Attend HR conferences, quarterly lunch-and-learns, and maintain continuing education credits

Support employee development initiatives including scholarships and educational reimbursements
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field

5 years of HR and/or recruiting experience

5 years of union relations experience

5 years of payroll and ATS system experience

Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

Exceptional analytical, organizational, and listening skills

Ability to sit, stand, walk for extended periods; lift/push/pull 26 lbs.; bend and stoop

Ability to pass physical, drug screening, driving, and background checks

Demonstrated reliability and alignment with client's core values
Preferred Qualifications

MBA or Master's in Human Resources

Previous HR experience in a manufacturing environment

Familiarity with Paylocity and Workable systems

1 year of experience planning corporate events
