General hours 8am-4:30pm but some overtime is expected, especially if quality issue detected at the end of the day.

Position will spend equal time at a desk and in the plant (possibly 50/50)

JOB SUMMARY:

The Quality Supervisor maintains and upholds the Company Quality Standards and Policies; Provides quality-related training, resources and guidance to all other departments as necessary; Communicates and interfaces with customers and suppliers relating to quality matters; and promotes a positive attitude toward teamwork, safety, and quality service.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY:
  • Quality Engineers
  • Quality Inspectors and Technicians: 1st and 2nd shifts

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Sets the example and requires all department employees to know and follow Company policies as directed by Employee Handbook, the Safety Rules and Regulations, and the Quality Manual.
  2. Assists Manager to make and control the Quality Department annual business and budget plans.
  3. Maintains Univance Inc. Quality System and suggests improvements for control plans and standards.
  4. Ensures APQP, PPAP, MSA and other applicable customer or ASQ Quality Standards are implemented and maintained.
  5. Provides the systems to implement and track corrective actions, preventive actions, and continual improvement with technical knowledge.
  6. Manage the work progress of all associates in the Quality Control Department and implements corrective action for any issues.
  7. Evaluates and develops all associates in the Quality Control Department.
  8. Establishes and maintains customer and supplier support as required.
  9. Plans and implements activities to maintain and monitor the requirements for IATF 16949.
  10. Reports Company quality progress and department activities to top management.
  11. Other job-related duties as requested by the President.

PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS:

Ability to remain stationary for several hours at a time; Ability to maneuver around the office and plant; Good eyesight, hearing, and speaking voice; Ability to grasp objects tightly, rotate wrists, arms, and shoulders and head up and down and side to side; Ability to communicate well with others; Ability to produce computer-generated reports quickly and accurately; Ability to travel (either by ground and/or by air) including overnight travel will be required (up to 20%); Ability to lift approximately 15 lbs.

Skills/Experience:

QUALIFICATIONS: (TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION)
  • Bachelor's degree in Quality Engineering or equivalent.
  • Ten years' experience in Quality Assurance/Control.
  • At least three years' experience in a managerial or supervisory position.
  • Management training, SPC, IATF-16949, Q-System training.
  • General knowledge of machining, heat treatment, metallurgical, gauge development and control.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Computer literate in MS Office software (Word, Excel, and Access).

Required Skills:

When screening, must ensure the candidate has:
  • Manufacturing experience, particularly in automotive industry.
  • Verify knowledge of IATF (just participate in audits and answer questions, or responsible for internal system)
  • Supervisory experience. This position is a member of the management team and will interact with Top Management daily, so just being a team leader somewhere else is not sufficient.
  • Must know GD&T and be proficient in use of hand measure tools such as calipers and micrometers. Experience with CMM also a plus.
  • CNC machining experience is strongly preferred and needs to understand the process impact on quality.
