Nesco Resource is searching for an experienced TECHNICAL QUALITY SPECIALIST to work with an established metal extrusion manufacturer in the Livonia, MI area.
Pay: Depending on experience, the pay range is $75-85k
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8am - 5pm (with infrequent OT on weekends or holidays)
Type: Direct Hire or Contract-to-Hire, depending on the candidate
Mandatory Education and Experience (more detail below):
- Associate's Degree (minimum) in Engineering (Manufacturing, Quality, Industrial, or Automotive)
- Quality manufacturing with aluminum extrusion experience is a priority, automotive preferred
- ASTN/EN = European aluminum extrusion standards experience required
- At least a familiarity ASTM/EN in aluminum is required and is important to company growth and certifications. Some individuals have the aptitude to learn but it has to "tie together, so having the knowledge to "make sense so they can truly understand and perform the role properly.
- Training and strong knowledge on IATF
- Auditing experience is required - Certification preferred
- Full circle including internal, supplier, customer, and ISO/IATF with knowledge of the processes, Cas, PFEMA, PPAP, etc. and technical drawings/GD&T
- The skill and ability for thorough problem solving and responding directly with customers
- The desire and ability to learn and grow
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements quality standards within an ISO 9001 system
- Develops, implements, and adheres to quality core tools and quality management systems (ISO 9001, ATF, VDA, etc.)
- Monitors and analyzes quality performance
- Inspects and tests materials, equipment, processes, and products to ensure quality specifications are met
- Collaborate with operations and department managers to develop and implement controls and improvements
- Ensures workflows, processes, and products comply with quality and safety regulations
- Reading and interpreting quality reports/results (2D, 3D, dimensional layouts, CMM reports, gauge R&R, FAI, etc.) to ensure product and process compliance to both Customer and Intex requirements per blueprints, and/or GD&T, and/or CSR
- Investigates and troubleshoots product or production issues submitting corrective actions, leading continuous improvements, using problem solving methodologies and root cause analysis (8D, Fishbone, 5 Whys)
- Problem solving and responding directly with customers
- Reviews codes, specifications, and processes, and generates quality work instructions
- Proficiency in compliance and requirements of IATF, VDA, CSRs, AIAG
- Proficient in compliance and requirements of Aluminum Association Standard Alloys (AA), ASTM International Standards, European
- American Alloy Standards (EN), and any other regulatory bodies for aluminum extrusion (ASTM B221, EN 755, etc.)
- Generates and submits PPAP documentation, IMDS and CQI-9 using customer portals
- Maintains and communicates Supplier and Customer Score Cards, and drives for improvements with sense of urgency
- Performs Audits: Process, Product, LPA, QMS, etc.
- Follows best practices and demonstrates practical applications to all MI-OSHA AND OSHA standards regarding safety
- This position requires excellent punctuality and attendance, with physical ability to perform duties assigned. Use of various hand tools and instruments, and extreme temperatures
Requirements:
- Associate's Degree (minimum) in Engineering (Manufacturing, Quality, Industrial, or Automotive)
- Minimum of five (5) years of Auto manufacturing and two (2) years Aluminum experience in Quality
- Must have experience as an Internal Auditor with ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949 (certification preferred)
- Additional Certifications desired (Green or Black Belt in Six Sigma, CQE, CQA, etc.)
- Strong GD&T and preferable working knowledge Keyence 2D/3D (VR/VL/XM)
- Must have two (2) years working experience in Quality Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA)
- Must have work experience in Microsoft Office products
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills working with internal and external teams, including vendors, customers, and management
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills, attendance and work ethic
- Must be conscientious and diligent, having high attention to detail
- Commute to multiple company facilities and customers
- Ability to use lab equipment and measuring tools, tensile test, shadow graph, calipers, micrometers, etc.
- Engages in self-learning and keeping up with industry trends
