Job Overview
Inspects incoming materials and production parts to ensure conformance with Burndy specifications.
A Day In The Life
Read and understand Burndy product drawings and specifications. Basic understanding of GD&T symbols is necessary.
Perform first-piece inspection (FPIR/PSIR/QCIP) on items that are newly produced.
Examines material or product for surface defects such as cracks, pits, burrs, finish, visual damage, etc.
Use statistical sampling plan as directed.
Maintains detailed data records as required.
Pull up relevant files (drawings, specifications, ECO's, Deviations, Work Instructions, etc) in enterprise software(ie. Agile and SAP). Able to create an ECO in Agile.
Understand and follow the Burndy Quality Manual. Able to understand how this manual relates to the requirements of various external agencies such as ISO, NUPIC and CSA.
Performs other duties as required.

Language and Interpersonal Skills: Able to read and understand relevant documents. Communicate effectively in writing and in person. Able to effectively summarize data findings. Able to develop and maintain positive working relationships as needed (coworkers, engineers, production personnel, etc).
Mathematical Skills: Fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Other Skills and Abilities: Some understanding of ISO 9001 standards.
2-4 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
