Position Title: Returns Specialist
Location: Norwich, CT
Shift: Sunday – Thursday, 5:30 PM – 2:00 AM
Environment: Refrigerated (~40°F)
Employment Type: Contract (3 months, with possible extensions)


Position Summary:

The Returns Specialist is responsible for processing product returns from resident yards, ensuring accurate documentation, product integrity, and inventory reconciliation. The role supports operational excellence through precise data entry, return disposition evaluation, and collaboration with transportation personnel. The position operates independently and is primarily performed in a refrigerated warehouse environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify returned product reason codes (e.g., mispicks, driver shorts, refusals) for accounting accuracy

  • Ensure all returned products are within required temperature ranges to maintain food safety

  • Inspect returned items for proper disposition (e.g., saleable, damage, out-of-code) and assign accurate coding

  • Process and file all return-related documentation (paper and digital) for accurate customer billing and inventory records

  • Complete and submit return-to-stock batch files by end of shift

  • Manually input credits and refusal codes as needed in the system

  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in end-of-day reports

  • Communicate with drivers and transportation supervisors to address return issues and identify improvement opportunities

  • Maintain accurate return logs and documentation in accordance with company standards


Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook; basic skills in Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy

  • Comfortable working independently in a cold storage environment


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in driver check-in, inventory, or warehousing roles

  • Familiarity with food safety protocols and return processes

  • Ability to quickly learn internal systems and processes

Additional Details:

  • On-site Role: Norwich, CT

  • Work Schedule: Sunday – Thursday, 5:30 PM – 2:00 AM

  • Interview Process: One in-person interview with 1–2 team members

  • Training: 3–8 weeks during day shift (flexibility required)
