Job Title: Finishing Machine Associate (Lv. I)
Summary: The Finishing Machine Associate I plays a key role in supporting the success of the Finishing Operations team within optical filter manufacturing. This temp-to-perm opportunity is ideal for candidates seeking a long-term career path in a clean, fast-paced production environment. Working closely with a Finishing Team Leader, the associate is responsible for executing production tasks, identifying and placing holds on nonconforming work, and escalating issues that could delay production. Success in this role is measured by product quality, on-time delivery, and team productivity.
Shift:
- Training Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Monday – Friday) for 4–6 weeks
- Post-Training Shifts:
- 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM (most common)
- 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM (based on production needs)
Pay:
$18.00 – $20.00 per hour (based on experience)
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform glass processing tasks, including Core Drilling, Dicing, Laser Marking, Unwaxing, Beveling (hand, semi-auto, and auto methods), Cleaning, and all supporting processes related to glass shaping.
- Conduct physical and visual measurements using various specialized equipment.
- Identify and place holds on work that does not meet quality standards.
- Escalate production issues that may impact schedules or delivery.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly workstation.
- Follow all work instructions, company policies, and production protocols.
- Contribute to achieving team goals for product quality, on-time delivery, and productivity.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong work ethic and ability to perform repetitive tasks with high accuracy.
- Good visual acuity and ability to distinguish chromatic colors.
- Excellent manual dexterity and fine motor skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Able to stand or sit for extended periods and occasionally lift light materials.
- Capable of working in an ITAR-registered facility.
- Willingness to work any shift and overtime as needed to meet production demands.
- Proficient in basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Ability to read, comprehend, and follow work instructions.
Desired Traits:
- Direct experience handling, processing, and cleaning optical-quality glass substrates and coatings.
- Experience working within a subjective quality system, especially with optical products.
- Machine shop background or experience operating dicing equipment highly desirable.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
