Job Summary & Duties:
The Extrusion Technician will be responsible for basic machine setup, changeovers, troubleshooting, equipment maintenance and basic repair and rebuild. Equipment includes Extruders, Compounders and associated ancillary equipment.

Properly complete paperwork to ensure traceability; verify process parameter readings according to established schedule.
Complete shutdown/startup forms for extruder and compounder.
Demonstrate comprehension of extrusion equipment to encompass all parameters and controls; process run parameters for extruder/compounder; understand proper usage of all control panel switches.
Conduct changeovers per established requirements.
Perform operation and maintenance of Moisture analyzer; remove/replace thermocouples, transducers/water lines; perform tool cleaning and replacement.
Set up, calibrate and library select the Lasermike; program and calibrate OLC controller including calibration and adjustment of ID during operation.
Troubleshoot resin and mechanical issues.
Perform Tubing inspection/Tooling preparation/Resin breakdown.
Perform indexing procedures; maintain vacuum systems.
Record differences between types of resin (virgin or regrind). Understand resin compounding lot numbers and traceability.
Understand TSE resin requirements/Hopper Dryers/Extruders/Nitrogen Tank/Generator.
Assist in training of new Technicians.
Assist in other functional areas/departments on an as needed basis.
Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
This position is required to assure compliance of Company operations to all applicable laws, regulations and standards, good business practices and company documented procedures (including knowledge of all standards, government occupational health and environmental regulations and statutes related to the site).
Engage others, promote and participate in Environmental, Health and Safety initiatives, focusing on continuous improvement.

Requirements:
Strong mechanical ability and analytical skills.
Creative problem solver with the ability to troubleshoot a variety of processing issues.
Sound judgment in the execution of technical/troubleshooting issues.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills to facilitate communication at various levels and areas within the organization.
Understanding of computers and computerized controls.
Ability to learn new technologies; understand and perform continuous improvement activities.

Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience
Must be 18 years of age.
High School Diploma, or GED required. Technical school background desirable.
Education requirements may be obtained through an educational institution or gained through equivalent work experience.
Up to 3 years of manufacturing experience. Previous experience with extrusion processing desirable.

Work Environment
Work involves use of manufacturing equipment or close proximity to equipment. May be exposed to biohazards and/or chemicals.
Work environment can range from clean room and proper gowning requirements to a production area that is open, potentially noisy, and with moving equipment.
Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. and push/pull up to 80 lbs.
Recurring physical demands include standing, walking, stooping, crouching, climbing, bilateral motion involving hands, wrists, and upper body.
Concentrated visual attention to perform checks on products and components.
Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time.
