Custodial Supervisor

Position Summary
The Custodial Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily custodial operations to ensure university buildings and facilities are maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition. This role provides leadership, training, and performance management for custodial staff while ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, ADA, and university regulations.
The position manages schedules, resources, inspections, and continuous improvement efforts to maintain high service standards across campus. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and support special events or emergent needs is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, train, schedule, and evaluate custodial staff to ensure quality and accountability
- Direct daily custodial operations, including cleaning of buildings, classrooms, restrooms, and public areas
- Inspect facilities and completed work to ensure cleanliness, safety, and compliance
- Coordinate custodial services for campus events and special projects
- Schedule work to minimize disruption to building occupants and campus activities
- Drive university vehicle to inspect sites, transport staff, and deliver supplies
- Train staff on equipment use, chemical handling, and cleaning procedures
- Monitor inventory and request supplies and equipment within budget guidelines
- Prepare reports, documentation, and performance evaluations
- Address employee performance issues and administer corrective actions as needed
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, ADA requirements, and environmental standards
- Identify and resolve safety hazards and support incident response efforts
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of relevant custodial or facilities experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet University fleet requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree with 4 years of custodial experience
- 2–4 years of supervisory or leadership experience in custodial services

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Frequent walking, standing, and facility inspections
- Work may include evenings, weekends, and on-call support for events or emergencies
Schedule
- Full-Time | 40 hours per week
- Schedule may vary based on operational needs
