Position Overview
The Production Manager serves as a key operational leader responsible for managing daily manufacturing activities, production flow, and workforce performance during assigned shift operations. This individual will oversee production planning, monitor output efficiency, address operational challenges, and partner with internal departments to maintain production continuity. Success in this role requires strong leadership, operational discipline, process improvement experience, and the ability to maintain production standards in a high-volume environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience within a production, manufacturing, or assembly environment.
- Working knowledge of production scheduling, process optimization, and quality assurance practices.
- Demonstrated experience managing teams in a high-output operational setting.
- Familiarity with workplace safety standards, OSHA compliance, and manufacturing operational procedures.
- Experience driving operational efficiency and productivity improvements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree or professional certification such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, PMP, or equivalent.
- Experience using ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar operational software.
- Strong background in continuous improvement frameworks including Lean, Kaizen, or 5S methodologies.
- Experience leading operations across multiple shifts or around-the-clock production schedules.
- Strong business acumen with experience using operational metrics to improve performance.
Core Responsibilities
- Create and manage daily and weekly production plans to support customer requirements and internal deadlines.
- Lead and direct production personnel, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
- Oversee operational workflows to ensure production targets, quality expectations, and efficiency benchmarks are consistently met.
- Partner with purchasing, inventory, and warehouse teams to maintain proper material flow and production readiness.
- Identify operational inefficiencies and implement corrective actions to improve throughput and reduce downtime.
- Troubleshoot workflow interruptions, equipment challenges, and staffing gaps to minimize production disruptions.
- Maintain compliance with safety procedures, workplace standards, and environmental guidelines.
- Review production metrics, operational KPIs, and output reports to identify trends and support business decisions.
- Work cross-functionally with quality, maintenance, and supply chain teams to support process enhancements and production scalability.
- Support onboarding, workforce training, and operational standardization initiatives.
Work Environment & Schedule
- Nights: 6pm - 2:30am M-F
- 12-hour shift structure
- Rotating production schedule
- Weekend and alternating mid-week coverage required
- Fast-paced production and warehouse environment
- High-volume operational setting with strict production deadlines
