Position Overview: Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Cable Technician to support the buildout and assembly of IT hardware environments. This individual will assist with the installation, organization, and connection of cabling across various technology systems - including servers, networking hardware, and computer equipment. The primary focus of this role is to ensure hardware components are assembled correctly and cabling is installed according to documented specifications for operational efficiency and system reliability.
Responsibilities
- Review and verify cable identification labels to ensure proper installation and routing accuracy.
- Identify hardware connection points and interface ports on IT equipment, including servers, switches, and related devices.
- Install, organize, and secure cabling to maintain clean and efficient cable management standards.
- Match and connect cables based on documented port mapping and equipment specifications.
- Route and terminate cabling within hardware configurations following technical schematics and build documentation.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure project timelines and installation standards are met.
- Work independently with minimal oversight while also contributing within a team-based production environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a warehouse, production, assembly, or manufacturing setting preferred.
- Familiarity with basic hand tools and powered assembly tools.
- Ability to follow technical work instructions, diagrams, and installation blueprints.
- Basic knowledge of electronic components, IT hardware, or networking equipment.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced production or warehouse environment with changing priorities.
- Physically able to stand for extended periods, bend, kneel, climb ladders, work in confined areas, and lift equipment/materials throughout the day.
Preferred Experience
- Exposure to server hardware, network switches, or structured cabling installations.
- Experience in data center deployments, rack-and-stack environments, or IT equipment integration.
- Understanding of cable routing standards and hardware labeling practices.
- Experience working from rack elevation diagrams, cable matrices, or infrastructure build sheets.
- (2) D Shift: 6pm-6am, Thurs-Sat, every other Wednesday
- (5) M-F mainstream shift, standard business hours
