Purpose of Position: To test, trouble shoot and assemble electronic, microprocessor-based systems and radio communications equipment including Cables and Harnesses utilizing Low Voltage testing.
Provide information to Engineering departments regarding issues identified with current and future
Products enabling improvements in performance and testing applications.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
• Conducts tests of components, assemblies and systems based on test criteria as established by policies and procedures or written test plans; maintains accurate records of test results and reports results to appropriate development and testing group/management.
• Must be able to effectively troubleshoot routine test failures to the subassembly level.
• Monitors work to ensure quality, and continuously promote Quality First Time.
• Assemble electronic, microprocessor-based systems as needed.
• Assemble Cables and Harnesses per Drawings as needed.
• Prepare prototypes of component assemblies and systems of either new or current products as directed by policies and procedures, written test plans, or work requests. Ensure that the prototypes meet the established specifications.
• Ensure that all manufacturing facility processes, and safety guidelines are followed, everyone is a safety officer.
• Ensure that all Assembly Instructions are followed without deviation.
• Support improvement in assembly and production processes by taking all recommendations for change to Production Coordinator.
• Train production team Assembler of all qualified levels in testing procedures on applicable assemblies in accordance with current testing instructions and Engineering guidelines.
• Support the timely completion of Work Orders; diligently follow-up and follow-through in all situations to ensure on-time delivery in accordance with work order completion date.
• Ability to adapt quickly and be flexible in a low volume high mix manufacturing facility.
• Perform all tasks as assigned by Production Coordinator or other members of the management team
• Maintain a clean and organized, clutter free, work area; Support 5s program.
• Support collection of production data in the form of "Production Downtime Tracker”, "1st Pass Yield”, and "Fault Tracker” spread sheets as required; as well as any additional data collection as implemented.
• Support inventory control; follow kit pulling of required parts to work order only, document any and all waste. Communicate any parts that are observed low in quantity to ensure rapid replacement.
• Perform Quality Inspection on Assemblages (on products rated as proficient/trainer) in support of production in process quality program.
• Support ISO program.
• All other duties assigned as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalent. (pre-requisite)
• Trade certificate in Electronics or equivalent in training/experience
• Driver license
• Some experience assembling electro-mechanical assemblies or cable fabrication (favorable)
• Working knowledge of computers, ability to support data collection and daily operations as needed; any additional requirements as implemented. (Microsoft word, excel, computer file system navigation, and ability to save data in multiple forms)
• Additional training may be given to meet future demands of position.
Knowledge & Experience Required:
• Demonstrated work experience in board / component level fault finding
• Substantial demonstrated commercial experience in supporting, diagnosing and troubleshooting diverse and varied environments with a focus on electronic / electrical repairs
• Background in radio, television or industrial electronics (desirable)
• Experience with Electronic box build assembly and cable/Harness assembly.
• Understanding of GPS and Wi-Fi Assembly's.
• Understanding of Wi-Fi and GPS Infrastructure and debugging to test assemblies
