Tax Collector (Call Center / Field Support)
Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid)
Schedule: Monday–Friday | Between 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM (shift assigned)
Assignment: Ongoing (potential for long-term/perm)
Interview Process: Remote interview → Onsite training
Important Notes
- Training: 3–6 weeks onsite | 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (attendance required)
- Hybrid role after training
- Must live in Greater Phoenix Metro area
- Must have reliable hardwired internet
- Must be able to transport company equipment (desktop, 2 monitors, etc.)
- Candidates must be current on AZ state taxes
- Background check, fingerprinting, and tax compliance check required
Position Overview
The Tax Collector is responsible for managing assigned tax cases and resolving delinquent tax liabilities for individuals and businesses. This role involves high-volume phone communication, account review, and occasional field visits to ensure compliance. The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, and able to handle sensitive financial conversations while promoting voluntary compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Review taxpayer accounts and verify/update key information
- Handle inbound/outbound calls to resolve delinquent tax liabilities
- Educate taxpayers on policies, resources, and compliance requirements
- Negotiate payment arrangements and solutions
- Document all interactions across multiple systems
- Schedule and conduct field visits (residences, businesses, etc.)
- Analyze financial information and supporting documentation
- Assist with enforcement actions, including asset seizure and public auction preparation
- Participate in team activities and meet performance metrics
Required Qualifications
- 1 year recent experience in a fast-paced call center (minimum)
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Workspace)
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
- Strong problem-solving ability and customer service mindset
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual (Spanish)
- Experience in finance, banking, insurance, or telecom call centers
- Experience with collections, compliance, or payment negotiations
- Associate’s degree or higher
