Job Description: Mold Press Operator

Based on typical job postings for plastic recycling and molding in the Belmont, NC area, a Mold Press Operator (or Extruder Operator) is responsible for running machinery that transforms recycled materials into new products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Machine Operation: Set up, start, and operate extrusion or injection molding machines to meet production specifications.
• Material Handling: Load plastic, billets, or other raw materials into the machinery, often using forklifts or pallet jacks.
• Quality Control: Inspect finished parts for defects, ensuring they meet quality standards by measuring, trimming, and checking for flaws (such as flash or inconsistent parts).
• Monitoring & Adjustments: Monitor machine gauges and controls adjusting temperature, speed, and pressure to ensure optimal operation.
• Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on molds and machinery and troubleshoot minor equipment issues.
• Safety & Housekeeping: Adhere to safety protocols, maintain a clean workspace, and handle materials safely.

• Experience: Previous experience as a press operator or in a manufacturing/plastics environment is usually preferred, though on-the-job training is often offered.
• Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Skills: Ability to read/write, basic math skills, and familiarity with hand/power tools.

2. Must be able to move in a fast paced environment
3. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
4. Must be able to work with and communicate with others
5. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
6. Must be able to follow all safety protocols
