Mechanical Drafter–Machinist
About the Role
We’re looking for a skilled Mechanical Drafter–Machinist who enjoys both designing and building. In this hands-on role, you’ll create detailed CAD drawings and bring them to life by machining and prototyping precision components. If you like seeing your designs turn into real products, this is the role for you.
What You’ll Do
- Design 2D and 3D mechanical components using CAD software (Autodesk Fusion or similar).
- Translate concepts, sketches, and ideas into detailed technical drawings.
- Set up and operate manual and CNC machines to produce precision parts.
- Perform machining operations including milling, turning, drilling, and shaping.
- Create and manage 3D printed models and prototypes, including estimating and scheduling jobs.
- Inspect and measure finished parts to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot equipment and resolve machining or design issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation for designs and engineering changes.
- Follow all safety and quality control procedures.
What You Bring
- Technical certification in machining (or equivalent hands-on experience).
- 5 years of experience in machining, drafting, or a related field.
- Proficiency with CAD software (Autodesk Fusion preferred).
- Strong understanding of machining processes and equipment.
- Solid math skills (geometry, trigonometry, measurements).
- Problem-solving mindset with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Clear communication skills.
Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)
- Experience with 3D printing and scanning technologies.
- Prototype development experience.
- Familiarity with CNC programming.
- Experience with Tormach 1100MX highly preferred.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Hands-on shop environment with moderate noise and machinery use.
- Regular lifting.
- Combination of sitting, standing, and moving throughout the day.
