About the Role
We’re seeking a skilled Welding Inspector with a strong foundation in non-destructive examination (NDE) to support quality assurance efforts in a production-focused environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring weld integrity, code compliance, and overall product quality across fabricated components.
This is best suited for an experienced inspector who thrives in a hands-on setting, or a strong welder looking to transition into inspection with the right mindset and training foundation.
Key Responsibilities
Weld Inspection & NDE Execution
Perform visual and non-destructive examination of welded components using applicable methods (RT, UT, PT, MT, VT)
Ensure welds meet applicable code requirements and internal quality standards
Document inspection results and maintain accurate, traceable records
Code Compliance & Interpretation
Apply working knowledge of ASME codes and standards during inspection activities
Interpret weld procedures, drawings, and specifications to verify compliance
Identify nonconformances and support resolution efforts
Reporting & Documentation
Generate clear, detailed inspection reports to support quality records
Maintain documentation aligned with internal and customer requirements
Ensure all NDE activities are properly recorded and signed off
Cross-Functional Support
Work closely with production, welding, and quality teams to address issues in real time
Provide feedback on weld quality and inspection findings
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality and inspection processes
Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of welding inspection experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
OR
Hands-on welding background with demonstrated interest in transitioning into inspection (evaluated case-by-case)
Technical Knowledge:
Working knowledge of ASME codes and weld quality standards
Experience with multiple NDE methods preferred: RT, UT, PT, MT, VT
NDE training hours signed off by a Level III strongly preferred
Skills & Tools:
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and technical drawings
Experience generating inspection and quality reports
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Work Environment
This role operates primarily within a manufacturing setting and requires flexibility to work off-shifts (3rd or 4th shift). The environment includes exposure to typical shop conditions such as noise, heat, and fabrication activity. PPE is required, including safety glasses, steel-toe boots, and hearing protection.
