Service Manager
Our client in Bridgeport is seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead their service department in a fast-paced generator and power systems environment. This role is responsible for overseeing technicians, dispatch, scheduling, customer service, and overall field operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality service delivery.
This is a hands-on leadership position that plays a key role in driving performance, developing technical talent, and maintaining strong customer relationships while supporting the continued growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all service operations, including technicians, dispatch, coordinators, and support staff
- Manage scheduling and dispatch to ensure timely completion of service work orders
- Oversee customer communication and issue resolution to maintain high satisfaction levels
- Develop and manage technician training, certifications, and performance standards
- Monitor KPIs, service metrics, and department performance to drive continuous improvement
- Oversee equipment readiness, including rental fleet, tools, and service assets
- Manage hiring, onboarding, performance management, and team development
- Lead internal meetings and coordinate with warehouse, sales, and accounting teams
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and industry regulations
- Maintain accurate service records, documentation, and reporting systems
Qualifications:
- Proven leadership experience in service, field operations, or operations management
- Strong experience in generator, electrical, or mechanical service environments required/preferred (adjust as needed)
- Strong technical understanding of generator systems and service operations
- Excellent communication and customer relationship skills
- Experience with dispatching, scheduling, and service coordination systems
- Strong analytical skills with ability to track and improve performance metrics
- Hands-on leadership style with a focus on accountability and team development
- OSHA 30 certification required (or willingness to obtain)
- Valid driver's license required
- Experience with service software (Zoho or similar) preferred
