Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Accountant II to support financial operations, reporting, and compliance. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, analyzing data, and ensuring adherence to state and federal regulations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and able to manage multiple priorities in a structured environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review financial statements to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance

  • Track cash balances, deposits, and receivable transfers to ensure proper funding and timely processing

  • Record cash receipts and maintain financial data within established deadlines

  • Manage and collect outstanding payments, resolve overdue accounts, and negotiate payment arrangements

  • Analyze accounting systems, procedures, and policies to identify improvements and ensure effective fiscal management

  • Maintain accurate financial records, including ledgers and account reconciliations

  • Perform daily and monthly accounting transactions using QuickBooks

  • Compile financial data and prepare reports on account activity and financial status

  • Monitor cash flow, maintain fund balances, and generate cash reports

  • Conduct wire reconciliations and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations

  • Complete financial reporting, cash forecasting, and fund monitoring

  • Support audits and provide ad-hoc financial reports as needed


Required Knowledge

  • Accounting systems and financial databases

  • QuickBooks or similar accounting software

  • GAAP and general accounting principles

  • Government accounting practices (preferred)

  • Financial reporting and data analysis

  • Internal controls and fiscal management processes

  • Applicable regulations, policies, and compliance standards


Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to interpret and communicate financial data clearly

  • Proficiency in accounting systems and Excel/spreadsheets

  • Report writing and documentation skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication


Abilities

  • Work independently with minimal supervision

  • Manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

  • Maintain accuracy and attention to detail

  • Research and resolve financial discrepancies

  • Collaborate effectively across departments

  • Proactively identify and resolve issues


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)

  • Experience in accounting, financial reporting, or fiscal management

  • Experience with government accounting or grant funding (a plus)
